My new series of oil paintings has its origins in my visit to the Arles Les Rencontres de la Photographie Exposition in 2021. As I toured over 50 exhibitions, I paid close attention to how people interacted within the gallery space—observing their body language, conversations, and moments of quiet reflection. These observations became visual cues for my subsequent experimental studies.
I initially explored these interactions through gestural gouache studies in Provence, which eventually evolved into iPad drawings and loosely painted acrylic studies. This progression of techniques ultimately led to the larger, more detailed oil paintings in my current series, reflecting the rich dialogue between viewers and art in public spaces.
